This is my fourth pair of Keen sandals and second of this style. I love them. They are great for hiking, walking, and while I wouldn't call them a water sandal, they can be used for that purpose too. I love the color of these in tan and pale coral. It is light enough to serve as neutral. My other pair is gray and aqua. This pair has a footbed that conforms to the sole of the foot, with some arch support, and some texture to make sure your foot doesn't slip in the shoe. I've found these are about the least slippery shoes I've worn. The front bumper comes up and is great for protecting toes when I'm hiking or using them in the water. My other Keen sandals have lasted for years and I'm sure these will as well.
UPDATE: I've had these shoes for a little over a year, and the stitching has started to come undone on the side. However, it is easily repairable, and the rest of the shoe is in great condition; so, I still highly recommend them!ORIGINAL POST: First, I'll say that I absolutely love these shoes! As my husband and I were planning our honeymoon in Hawaii, we knew that we were going to need some good water shoes. I'm more of a sandal girl myself; so, I ordered both the Whispers and the Newport H2s, and here's what I found...The Whispers ran truer to size than the Newports. I order my regular size in the Whispers, which fit perfectly, but I needed about a full size bigger on the Newports. (Not a deal breaker, but just something to note.)The Whispers have a significantly nicer feel to them, but they do run a bit narrow; so, if you have wider feet, you likely want to go with the Newports, regardless of size. However, while the Newports are wider and are definitely a more rugged shoe with a bigger toe bumper, that also makes them a bit heavier and they tend to clomp a bit more. Depending on how you're looking to use them, this might be what you need, but for me just walking and hiking around Hawaii, the Whispers did just fine.I will note that on the beaches, especially the pebbly ones, the sand did get stuck in the Whispers a bit, but my guess is that would've happened even more with the Newports as the latter have the bigger toe bumper where sand likely would've gotten stuck. As far as arch support, the Whispers have good support, but the Newports definitely had a better insole. However, it also made the Newports a bit tighter on the top, almost like they didn't fully account for the arch, which wasn't unbearable, but again, something to note when choosing what size to order. For me, the arch support was still more than sufficient in the Whispers, and my feet never felt too tired walking around in them for hours.I've also heard comments that the back of the straps on Keens get stretched out after time; so, I also liked that the Whispers were reinforced with ribbon around the back too. It also added a cute accent to the design, making them not only a good water sandal, but also a cute all-around nice shoe. They were so comfortable that I ended up wearing them even when I knew we weren't going to be getting our feet wet.So, after walking around the house in them for about 1-2 days each, I ultimately went with the Whispers, and I'm very glad that I did. The fit was comfortable, they weren't too bulky, and they did exactly what I wanted them to do, which was mainly protect my feet as we explored rainforests, beaches, and other fun sites.I'll try to give an update once I've had them a bit longer, but after two weeks of wearing these almost exclusively in Hawaii, I can say that I'm very happy with them and would highly recommend them to anyone!
When I ordered these, I had memories of trying on the Newport women's shoes and having them fit terribly several summers ago. It took me a long time to find some Keens that I wanted to wear, and then I had to go to men's size 9. Even then, breaking them in was frustrating and I didn't wear them for a year. Two pair of Newports later (men's), I thought I must be nuts to be willing to try the Whisper in Women's sizes. After all of the reviews, I decided to try.HOW DO THESE COMPARE TO NEWPORTS--First of all, these fit perfectly- and I mean PERFECTLY. They are not at all like my bad experiences with the women's Newports in the past.--Secondly, the color is spectacular. On my screen it looks like a neon seafoam green. In real life, the same!--Lighter weight. These are much easier and less clunky to walk around in. The toe is not nearly as full coverage as Newport, but it does not affect protection.--Heel higher, sole thinner. Although it sounds scarier than it is, the heel is slightly elevated as compared to the Newports. The sole is thinner and not quite as bouncy, but great to wear all day.--No break in period. I wore these all day the first day and once I got past a slight burning in the bottom of my feet for the first hour, the shoes were fine and I did not even notice I had them on.FINAL COMMENTSI am SO happy with the Whisper shoes (I got Greenbriar/Neutral Gray). The color is fantastic, the shoe hugs my foot and no sore spots at all. They dry very quickly too, by the way. I find that they are more streamlined to my foot and easier to walk around in tight spaces with. The Newports I tend to hit my toe sometimes which is more annoying and not at all painful.I am so impressed by these shoes I had to right a review to let you all know- I am SO glad I didn't pass these up. I almost walked away after all of the problems I had fitting Keens in women's before. I bought 10.5 and it fit perfectly. My shoe size is usually fine in a larger ten, but too small for an 11.
First off, it’s worth mentioning that due to a sports accident long ago, EVERY pair of footwear I buy automatically needs $70 worth of orthotic “surgery” before I can even wear them.So obviously, with that added expense, I need to be sure all and every pair of new shoes will be durable and last at least several years.Besides that, they’ll need to be comfortable from the start—I can’t risk putting that extra money into a shoe that will never become comfortable or might cause blisters.Fortunately, Keen sandals are both durable and never have caused any distressing issues, so I can be confident that they will fit well and also last for many years of rugged use. Thesis style is always true to size and super comfy. (I adore them and no, this is not my first pair!)Besides that, I LOVE the color of this pair—they’re cheery enough to wear on a daily basis with casual slacks or skirts. (It feels silly to worry about getting them muddy should I sometimes decide to wear them while mowing the lawn or gardening since mud and muck always wash off easily with a quick spray with a garden hose.)I also wear them when kayaking, as they provide stable footing and won’t slip on mud or slimy rocks as you’re entering the boat in the water. Besides that, these sandals always dry out quickly so you’ll not have wet feet while waiting for hours for them to dry out.Simply put—I adore these sandals and will likely buy another pair sometime soon. (Yes, I’ve had another pair for about six or seven years that by now are fairly tattered, yet still wear them from time to time when doing really messy tasks. After three or so years I started popping them into the washing machine with jeans and heavier fabrics, making them look brand new without any evident wear or damage to the sandals or the other laundry. That’s a win-win if you have stinky feet. 🤣)So it’s a two thumbs up review for these fantastic sandals (or should that be “two big toes up” review? 8^)If you’re strategic about purchasing them off season, you also likely to find discounted pricing on their less popular colors or styles!
I was very pleased with the fit and comfort when I tried them on (which I expected because I have a pair the same size!). However: the left shoe was not laced properly through the top left loop. There’s no way to undo and re-lace because of the way the laces are sealed top and bottom. I did cut it, re-laced through all the holes, and tied a knot. It’s currently drying all the places I glued it to keep the elastic from fraying. I did get the shoes at a fairly good price, but I wouldn’t mind a partial refund from the seller, or another pair (in a different color) if they are so inclined! I discovered this brand about a year ago when a friend bought them for her daughter, who refused to wear them. My grandgirls didn’t like them either. I’m not going for style at this point in my life, but the fit was perfect, and they are the most comfortable shoes I own currently. And, they feel safe and secure with the orthopedic issues I am currently dealing with.
These are my third pair of Keens and they are always comfortable, true to size, and hold up well.
The Keen Women's Whisper Sport Sandals were a game-changer for my summer adventures. After discovering my regular size was a tad too roomy at a popular shoe store, I decided to take a leap of faith and size down by half when ordering these online. To my delight, the fit was spot-on! These sandals cradled my feet like a hammock on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The taupe and coral color combo added a stylish touch to my beachside strolls and outdoor escapades. The best part? I saved a cool $30 compared to the hefty price tag at the brick-and-mortar store. Talk about a win-win! So, if you're in the market for comfort, style, and a little extra cash in your pocket, the Keen Whisper Sport Sandals are the way to go. Your feet and your wallet will both be singing praises! 💃👣💰
Keen's are now my favorite sandal for general everyday wear. They are so comfortable and supportive for my footbed. I actually hate when it starts getting colder and I can't wear my Keens anymore for the year.
I was sorry to have to return these shoes. My left foot is longer than my right so my toe rubbed on the closed toe. For people with feet that match, this shoe is great. I met a lady in the dermatologist office who was wearing a pair. I asked about them and she to,d me that she uses them to hike in. Since I don’t have a pair of comfortable hiking shoes, I gave them a try. Too bad my feet didn’t cooperate.
The sandals arrived as expected and though I was skeptical about ordering a half size up, they fit perfectly! I have high arches and boney ankles but these sandals fit comfortably. I may need to get arch supports for all day wear but I’m trying them without for now. They look great on!
